Leave and absence. Expiration rules

Hi,
We have an issue that for those types of Leave and absence where a date was set in the Expiration rules section (31/12/2024) and this date has already passed, after this, it is not possible to make Time off request for a new period, while accruals for a new period for this Leave type had been made.
In Leave and absence transaction there is such type of transaction with negative amount.
Balance expiration adjustment

It is also not possible to change the date in the leave Type - a warning text is displayed when you try to change for new Date "The expiration rule effective date can't be edited because balance expiration has been processed for this leave type."

How does it resolve?
and what we take into account for the future to avoid these problems.
