Is it possible to create a Sales Order (positive/negative) against a stock item, but to not post any stock transactions? (only the revenue and debtor entries).
Hi Jamesh,
why you want to do that? System will always post inventory transactions in case of stocked item but yes if there is no cost that means if you have increased your inventory at Zero cost then while posting sales invoice it will only post Customer Debit to Revenue Credit.
Hi James,
What is real requirement?
Does change the balance of customer or the margin of the item?
could you use non-stocked item or sales category
pls suggest if helps
Thanks for the responses everyone.
I need the ability on the Sales Order, to process a transaction against a stock item, but not affect the stock module. So i cannot setup the item to be non-stock unfortunately.
This is not supported. When the item is tocked, you will get these transactions. Can you explain what you want to achieve here? Is it e.g. a price change? In that case, there is a work around to create a positive and negative line on the sales order. But it will create the inventory transactions. For the costing part, depending on the costing method, you can link these two transactions to have zero cost effect.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
The challenge we have is that we are interfacing D365 with an external inventory management [IM] system, and need to sometimes process credit notes that do not impact the stock in D365, as the IM system has already processed the inventory transaction via an adjustment/movement journal.
I realise that it is not possible now. Was just confirming!
