We need to switch account structures on a few entities in our environment. I am currently running into a problem where in a specific entity I get the error:

Account structure [name] cannot be deleted because it is in use by the general journal in ledger [company x]. You must first update the general journal.

I have already checked open transactions, such as general journals, invoices etc. I must be overlooking something so turning to the community for help. Does anyone have advise where to look?

Hi,

Where exactly you are getting this error? Are you trying to delete accounts structure? It might be mapped in ledger setup in general ledger. Remove it from ledger setup and try.

On the Ledger page (Ledger setup) under General Ledger, I want to remove the attached account structures for a specific entity. and then attach/add new account structures. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Robin,

To see the all pending transactions, run " Trial balance with transactional detail" for pending transactions with financial dimension set(as per your existing accounts structure) in General ledger. If you see any pending transactions in this report, update the transactions and try to remove accounts structure from ledger.

I've checked journals in a lot, if not all of the modules in use. Global journals is not an option, we have over 200 entities, this will never be empty. There must still be something in the entity holding me from removing the existing account structures. Any tips are still welcome. I'm at the point of contacting Microsoft.

Hi,

In the Legal entity, where you are trying to remove account structure, focus on the LE only, there must be unposted transactions.

If not, you may connect with MS, they can help you to check from DB.

We found the cause, a periodic journal in general ledger, this journal was linked to a user group making it invisible. After adding myself to the user group I was able to see and remove the journal, and than switch the account structures.
