Unable to start AOS Service from IIS Manager - Dynamics 365 FinOps

Hi All,

I am on a cloud hosted virtual machine.

I am trying to start AOS Service from IIS Manager but I am getting an error message "This website cannot be started. Another website may be using the same port".

Have you faced this issue before? Any help will be highly appreciated.

Application version: 10.0.14

    Probably you can use below command to learn which other process is occupying the FO port.

    Netstat -bano > c:\temp\listport.txt

    More info about the command

    Yes I was able to identify the process. It was IIS Express which I killed from TASKS manager and was able to start AOS services.

    Please DONT start IIS when visual studio is running. Visual Studio stops IIS and starts IISExpress on purpose. I've seen some blogs and youtube videos talking about starting IIS but you SHOULD NOT DO THAT. It's wrong and it will cause you some trouble with compiling an debugging.

    Why do you need IIS? If IISExpress is running it means F&O is running. What is the purpose of what you're trying to do?

    You can close Visual Studio and it will stop iisexpress and run IIS again in the background for you after a few seconds.
