Hi,

We have issue with storage dimension group of item ...actually we need some change in storage dimension group so i created new one after i want assign with all product but we have 40 thousand item so we can not change one by one if have any idea please share......

yeah do it by

any tool such as excel add-in or DMF

or write an update query if you have to update same value for all times

Note: if there are transactions with any item, probably it would not allow you to do so

yes we have already make lot of transaction with all item

but one by one we change but this long process means first----you have to go product master after change then come to released product then you can change ...so it is very hard ..this is my email id -skhan@sig.com.qa ..please reply me

EcoResStorageDimensionGroupProduct (Saves for Product Master)

EcoResStorageDimensionGroupItem (Saves for Item)

write and update query as per your need.

Well there can be any reason for that, as I am not sure that should DMF allow you to update for this table, or may be some other reason.

You may try to debug it that why its failing. or try by updating excel add-in

Apart from above, still I am doubtful about one thing "You are changing dimension after transactions on items "

Is that a really valid activity to do??

yah i am changing the dimension after transaction becouse of there is some option did not select ....so i created new one with valid option ..if you have any idea how to change existing one ..and i am using excel add in and same error is coming...please help me...

I think its not a valid thing what we are trying to do, functionally its not good to update dimension after item transactions

Be very aware what you are doing. Depending on the setup you cannot simply update the items to a new group. Normally you'd have to write off all the stock for the item specified, run an inventory closure and only then change the storage group. Make a business case and have the finance consultant look into this before you start adjusting this.
