Inventory reporting

ReportReport
Posted on by 95

I have been messing around in BC trying to get an inventory report that includes the following fields and can be sorted using multiple parameters such as Quantity is greater than zero, by location, then manufacturer, then item number.  I am guessing that I need to create this as I cannot find a good canned report but need a little guidance.  I would also like the ability to delete the below fields on reports as needed once they are run.  (Maybe download to Excel)  The tricky part may be when an item is in stock at multiple locations I want it to show what is in each location separately.  I would also assume that over time we can create active dashboards that could basically do the same thing???  Thanks

Location

Vendor Name

Item No.

Vendor Item No.

Description

Quantity on Hand

Qty. on Purch. Order

Qty. on Sales Order

Unit Cost

Total cost (this would just multiply the qty on hand with the unit cost).

Please post your tips, notes, any ideas in the comments.

Thank you so much for the help in advance

Just to be clear. Do you want to see this a a report or do you want the data show in a page that you can chose to export to Excel?

Hi, I think it is difficult to find a out-of-the-box report as you need in BC .

You can try to integrate Power Bi report to BC.

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

Thank you Yun if you dont mind me asking if someone has an only functional background in BC to be specific only knows the information provided in MB-800 , can they accomplish this or does that needs a developer

    Hello,

My take would be that if it requires a development license, a developer / partner is needed. If no developer license is needed, then it can be done if there is a document stating how it can be done. A partner / developer may be faster but people can learn and grow if they get a task assigned.

All the best and good luck with this task.

    Thanks.

    Ebram,

To answer your question that you are posing to Yun Zhu, Power BI is an integrated reporting tool connected to Business Central. You do not have to be a developer to connect and start using Power BI. If you are looking to create a custom extension report, than yes, you will need a DEV license to accomplish this. Here is a link to begin learning.

    Thanks,

    Steve
