How to insert data in a from using another form e.g (if we click on new button in a customized form the dialogue form will open for inserting data in first table )

where we select new buttton

Don't you have any more specific question? Does it mean that you don't know how to insert records at all? Or how to open a form on record creation? Or what?

Also, which version of AX is it about?

hi Martin,

i am working on two form patterns (1.detailMaster 2.DialogueBasic)both have same fields and table

i have added a mneu item button on actionpane of my "detail master form"whenever i want to add new record it i click on my menu item buutton it takes me to "dialogue basic form" .

so, whatever data i insert in "dialogue basic form "i want it to show it in "detail master form" for every record.

e.g just like pruchase order creator in purchtable form.

Moved to Dynamics 365 Finance Forum.

Putting your logic on a custom button sounds like a bad idea to me, because it wouldn't work when using the standard "New" button or a keyboard shortcut.

You don't have to reinvent the wheel, because what you want is already used at several places in the standard application, therefore you can look at the implementation.

For example, see how new sales orders are created in SalesTable form. I don't have an F&O environment on hand, but I think you'll see that create() method of SalesTable data source calls another form for the record creation.

Just insert data to table and refresh first form Ds via caller or at button_clicked method(after super)

I agree with martin - No need to create custom button as you have the one in the standard.

In addition to martin comments - Refer to standard TsTimesheetEntry form - On the DataSource create method of TsTimesheetTable they will be calling the dialog form - After giving the details on the dialog form - Once the user clicks ok button - closeOk method of the TsTimesheetCreate(dialog form) form will be called - Inside the method they will be calling the details form with the caller records.

i have added new button because when i have used system generated button it makes new reecord in the existing form rather then opening "Dialogue basic form".

Could you help me with code and how to navigate it?
