For recording of User Permissions, do I need to ask user to login and I record on user side in Navision 2018?

Hi Community,

I would like to start permission recording and find out user permissions.

May I ask whether I need to let user login first and use user's id to record, or I can do it on myside and assign the recording to a certain user id from my desk?

Thank you

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

    Second option is better.

Hi, No, you only need administrators (users with Super permissions) to do permission recording.

Here's an example of BC that hopefully gives you some hints.

    Hi Zhu,

Thank you for sharing the information. I think you have mentioned to me in one of the posts before, but I can't seems to find that post.

Your link shows how I can record the permissions, but how can I assign it to a user who is doing it instead?

Does that means I need to give the new user a new super permission first and record?

Or I can assign from my side to record her movements?

I don't see any way to assign users from my side.

    Thank you?

    Hi AMit,

    Thank you for the reply.

May I know how to do the 2nd step? I also feel its better, but I don't see the assignment to user function in my navision 2018.

    Thank you.

Hi, It doesn't need to be that complicated.

When you use this feature, you will typically create a new Permission Set first. Then open this Permission Set and use the record feature.

When finished, the permissions you recorded are saved in this Permission Set.

Just go to the user card and assign this Permission Set to the user.

    For example,

    pastedimage1663119700348v3.png

Do some operation then choose Stop.

Then go to User Card. Just adding this permission set to users.

    Hi Zhu,

    Thank you for your patience.

I understand what you are saying.

What I'm trying to explain is that, I don't know fully which page and tables, the users are working on in Navision.

So I want to record while they are working, Hence I'm was thinking how do I assign the recorder to them while they are working. Is it possible?

Or is it that I need grant user profile with a super permission(so that they can go to all the places that they require to work on), then go to users' desk  and ask user to relogin in navision and work normally like they use to.

so that at the end of the day, I can stop the recording and take the permissions to assign in a new profile.

Then I go to my desk, I search for users ID and assign the new test permission to my users?

    Thank you!

Hi, I have not tried this usage. And I'm not sure if session can last a day.

As you know, there are many Timeout settings in BC, if it is exceeded, the recorded permissions may be lost.

I recommend giving users Super permissions in the test database and letting them to using record permissions. It will be better to operate all the experienced operations in a short period of time.

In addition, if it is Windows authentication, you can also log in to your account on their computer to run NAV. This method is recommended if the number of employees is small.

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.
