I have installed Visual Studio 2019 Community version with "Data storage and processing" as an extension. I tried to install Report Authoring Extension for building CRM Fetched based reports. However, the same couldn't get installed. Documentation suggested to install an older version of Visual Studio, however, I am not able to find any community version of older visual studio e.g. 2017 or 2015 (32-bit ones) to install. Please suggest possible ways to install the tools.
SSRS for Dynamics is not available on VS2019 or VS2017.
You will have to use VS2015 only. Yes this is painful but this is what it is.
Thanks!
However, I am not able to find community version of Visual Studio 2015 to install either
Hello,
Report Authoring Extension doesn't support 2019 and 2017. You will have to install 2015 version of SSDT (SQL Server Data Tools). You can download it here - docs.microsoft.com/.../previous-releases-of-sql-server-data-tools-ssdt-and-ssdt-bi
Good luck.
Thanks for sharing the links.
Can you also share the link where I can download and install the community version of Visual Studio 2015?
Why do you need Community Version of VS 2015? That installation I provided link to is self-efficient without VS.
Thanks again..
That solved the issue!

I was very excited to recently learn Visual Studio 2019 now supported the CRM BIDS extension, and initially ran into problems:
Report Authoring Extension will not be installed for the latest version of Visual Studio. For more information, select Details.
Report Authoring Extension will be installed for VS2015, but you have VS2019 installed. This might have happened because you don't have some prerequisites for VS2019.For a list of the required components, see the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Report Authoring Extension (with SQL Server Data Tools support) download page (go.microsoft.com/.../
The key for ME was to install the Microsoft Reporting Services Projects.
So, install SSDT for Visual Studio 2019 and the new (now old) BIDS and the Microsoft Reporting Services Projects and we should be good.
