Hello Gents

We hope you are well,

We Trying to upload General journal from data management

- Source data format (Excel)

- Entity Name (General journal)

Journal Information

- Account type & Offset Account Type both ledger

- Same structure (Main account - Customer - Unit - type)

Financial dimension configuration for integrating applications (Ledger dimension format) create same structure and it's work fine

My Issue Financial Dimension Customer Include (-) mark (Example :Customer Number = CUST-00001)
And system delimiter is (-)

So while we trying to upload system feel it two dimension

First Dimension = CUST

Second Dimension = 00001

Then system give Error message (The number of financial dimension value specified ###### is defferant from the number set up in active formate for data entity)

There is any solution for our case ?

Best Regards

Customer Account Formate

This is expected issue, because in GL parameter you are using delimiter as -, hence system is separating your dimension.

The best practice is not to have any value as - in between.

Other practice is to change the delimiter, it will serve the purpose.

How To change the system delimiter?

    It's inactive

    From

System administration --> Setup --> System Parameter --> General --> Chart Of account --> Chart of accounts delimiter (Inactive)

    Hi Sherif,

As workaround, you can use a backslash in the value to indicate the hyphen in the data value is not a separator.

If you have e.g. the next values:

    CostCenter : CC004

    Department: D004-02

You can have a value like this to correctly import it:

    CC004-D004\-02

    Hello Sherif,

The workaround that Andre mentioned should do the job.

Assuming that you are not live with D365FO I would recommend re-thinking your account delimiter.

If you use the 'minus' symbol then you will often run into similar issues as customers, cost centers, projects, etc. are often separated with that symbol.

To overcome this issue once and for all, discuss internally whether you can change the account delimited in the GL parameters form.

Using a different separator might help.

In case you are already live with D365 you are still able to change this delimiter but you need to take much care and test things before as your existing transactions string will be adjusted. Before doing that, test and discuss things internally first.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

You should use Delimiter (GL > Parameters > Delimiter ) which is not used as financial dimension value in your case "-" is used in customer account dimension value

You can update delimiter but keep in mind it is going to take lot of time because system updates this for all posted historical transactions as well.

    Hi,

If you want to change the delimeter, you can navigate to GL parameter>>Chart of accounts - Change the delimeter.

    Thanks,

    Sheela
