Hello All,

We are using PSA v3 app on CRM online and when i create a project from a template i get the error "There was an error copying the project. Please delete this project and try again.". Did anyone come across this? I did a bit of googling and found the below link, but i guess it dosent apply in my case. Any help would be greatly appretiated.

Hello, I think this would need some troubleshooting, I would try to follow these tipsto get insights on what can be causing the issue:

    1) Press f12 -> go to console -> reproduces the error

    2) Try to find error messages in Console tab.

Also, go to to network tab  and capture network traces

3)Review if the managed plug-in steps and workflows from PSA are enabled

    4) Review if the unmanaged plug-in steps and workflows can be diabled (this only to isolate the issue)

5)Check if your async service is enabled

If need assistance, please reach the Support team to collect internal trace errors and investigate

    Thanks Giselle Siqueira de Oliveira,

In my case it was a custom workflow activity which was throwing errors. Once i rectified it, the issue was resolved.

    We had this problem.

In our case, clearing the "Bulk Generation Status" field on the project corrected the issue.

We created an Advanced Find including this column and saved it.  It showed the "Bulk Generation Status" field = Failed.

From the user interface on this personal view of projects, we used Export to Excel Online.

We used backspace to clear the "Failed" value and Saved, starting an import.

After the import completed, the error was resolved.

    Thanks for this article.
In current situation using PSA online I am facing the same issue. Also unable to rationalize the actual steps which causes this error!

Can you suggest, if this has been fixed or its still open?

    We still have the issue.

Every day or two we run the Advanced Find and edit the field and clean them up.

Thanks for the response! great help.

Can you help me understand the steps to reproduce this error?

We are creating the Projects programatically with the SDK based on our orders.  Some Project Tasks vary based on what was ordered, but some are standard and use a template for the tasks. Any Project created with a template (programatically or manually) has this error.  The other Projects do not.

We opened a support case with Microsoft and they helped us find the work-around, but not a solution.

We are running into the same issue here. What was the work-around Microsoft gave you?

The workaround is to manually search for and fix each record using the user interface.

    1) Create an Advanced Find for active Project records with Bulk Generation Status = Failed. Save it as a personal view.

    2) In the Projects area of the Project Service app, run the personal view you just made. In the top ribbon, drop down "Export to Excel" and select option "Open in Excel Online".

    3) In the spreadsheet that opens, backspace in each cell with the word "Failed". Click Save at the bottom when you are done.

    4) A data import will start.  Check that it completes successfully with the row count you expect.

It feels like there must be some attribute of the template incorrect, but we have no insight into what to change.
