Hi,

I am working in my dev env using VHD.  I have all services enabled but w3wp.exe is not visible.

All of sudden it stopped appearing and not sure why. IIS services are running too.

I am 10.0.40 since couple of months so it not because of version upgrade too.

If you can open F&O in the browser, then it should be visible.
Have you checked "Show processes for all users", or can you find batch.exe?

First of all, consider whether you really want w3wp.exe. Development environments usually uses iisexpress instead (and IIS, i.e. w3wp.exe, isn't running.

If you want w3wp and you've verified that it's running, don't forget to tick "Show processes from all users".

@Martin I wonder if it's a local VM, since she mentioned VHD?
As far as I remember these ones only come with IIS.

IIS Express comes with Visual Studio.

You likely want to say that F&O dev tools on VHDs are configured to use IIS by default, which is correct and therefore your remarks is indeed relevant.

But it doesn't mean that the environment can't be configured to use IIS Express; it's just a matter of a single entry (RuntimeHostType) in DynamicsDevConfig.xml.
