Hide middle name field globally

Hello,

Is there any possibility to hide a middle name globally in the system?

We have a requirement, that during the creation of any record in the system where the middle name is involved, we should hide them.

We will have a NoYes parameter field and based on it, we would like to hide the field everywhere.

Like Customer, Vendor etc..

If there is no possibility, what would be the approach to achieve it with x++?

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Johnny,

Can you tell the purpose of the parameter? Would there be a difference per legal entity or another factor?

If it needs to be dependent on the parameter, you would need to write x+ code as extension of all forms where it is displayed.

If it is related to the legal entity, you need to be aware that the persons in the application are in a global table.

If the Middle name should always be hidden, you can think of adding a security role with deny permissions for the Middle name field on the DirPersonName table and assign it to all users. You can also extend the system user role with the deny permission. Note that a system administrator would still see the field.

    Hello Andre,

Yes, the purpose of parameter is that it will be set to yes or no per legal entity.

Does it mean we should write a x++ code per form where we have the middle name, or it is somehow possible to write the code only for DirpersonName table?

    Thanks

    Hi Johnny,

This would require an implementation per form. You can write common coding in a class method and call the logic from each form.
