Production BOM item component fixed quantity

hello experts,

I was wondering how to handle this in BC. We our production BOM there is one component that needs to be included 1 per production order and not per each. How should we handle that? We don't want to leave the item as non-inventory as we want the part to be consumed correctly.
I have the same question (0)

As per my understanding, You can try these two alternatives:

1.) Add the item to the BOM but do not define the quantity per unit—leave it as 0. This should create Production Order Component Lines with a quantity of 0, allowing you to manually update the quantity once the Production Order is created.

2.) If the first option does not create Production Order Component Lines with a quantity of 0, you can manually insert the item with a fixed quantity.

    Consequences:

If you have multiple line items in a single production order and want the same fixed quantity applied to both lines, you will need to split them line-wise. Otherwise, the costing will not be accurate.

Microsoft added a "Calculation Formula" in the Production BOM lines.  One of the options is Fixed Quantity.  Test using this setting to see if it resolves your question.

    Hi,

    I hope below can help

The calculation formula defines the relation of the individual components. The following options are available as a calculation formula:

    • Empty - No consideration of dimensions. (Quantity = Quantity per.)
    • Length - Quantity = Quantity per * Length
    • Length x Width - Quantity = Quantity per * Length x Width
    • Length x Width x Depth - Quantity = Quantity per x Length x Width x Depth
    • Weight - Quantity = Quantity per x Weight
    • Fixed Quantity - Quantity = Quantity per

    Thanks
    Ramesh

    Hello,

You can Manage that Production BOM by mentioning the "Quantity per" to 1 against the Specific Component. This ensures that the component is included once per production order, regardless of the order quantity.

And Ensure that the component is marked as a fixed quantity item. This setting ensures that the component is consumed once per production order and not per unit produced.
