Microsoft announced the discontinuation of Basic Authentication for Exchange Online.
In our setup of Great Plains Dynamics we enabled E-Mail for Workflow.
Within the setup we choose for Anonymous SMTP Authentication.
Would the discontinuation affect us in any way?
Workflow actually uses SMTP as the transport for sending emails, which is different from the basic authentication used in regular Exchange emailing in Dynamics GP.
From what we've been told, SMTP is not going to be disabled by Oct 2022 like basic authentication is scheduled to be, mainly because the majority of printers, scanners, etc. all use SMTP to communicate.
That being said, I'd also recommend looking at the following:

Thanks Derek for your response.
From your answer it seems that we are save for the time being.
Yes, from what we understand, O365 does have plans for SMTP in the future, but for right now, they won't be implemented at the same time as the permanent disabling of basic auth in Oct, 2022.
Keep an eye out on our Dynamics GP blogs as we'll most likely have information on that, if and when it should happen.
Thanks again.
