Server methods in Security role in Dynamics 365 For Finance and operations

Hi All,

I have a quick question, as we know all in AX2012, when we create new security role, with its all privileges and duties, sometimes the standard can alert that the current role, dont have all permissions to do some actions, like acces denied to method "XY" within "AB" class,  As a solution we have to add the method to the appopriate security role.

My question now, is what about Server methods in D365 For Finance and Operations, if they still managed the same way as AX2012 or something changed, how we can add them into a security role in D365FO

Thanks All :)

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Adax,

In Dynamics 365, there is no need for the server methods anymore. It is managed in a different way without the server methods node on roles and privileges.

I know these methods have been used in AX2012 because we are talking about Client tier and Server architecture, and we had 2 options to execute some methods on Client or Server side, But with D365 we have new dev and cloud architecture, basically there is no server to execute the code

i wanna just to know more details about how they are managed,or how they have been replaced in D365 ? if it's possible :)

    Thanks

So we will never have restrictions, or denied access for server methods, but only for other components/permissions (Tables and fields, Form and form controls, Data entity and fields)

Correct, there are now only options to secure entry points like menu items, form controls and tables. The server methods are not required anymore.

    Hello André,

I'm facing an issue in form creation when i have a system admin i can create with no errors but when i remove the system admin and use another role i can see the form and the records but when click ok for create it shows an error that i can't create when i debugged it i found there is a class when using the other role i don't have access to it as you know in ax 2012 we handle this by adding server method to the role but in D365 was removed how to solve this issue in D365?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks ,

    Maen.M

    Hi Maen.M,

Can you create a new question on the forum and provide some more details, like what type of changes you made and the error message you get?

    Hello André,

the problem is more simple, i didn't do any changes i am using a standard class in my code but this class need sysadmin role to use it, if you don't have sysadmin the method will jump to the "catch" statement and give you the error which i type in there.

    Thanks.

    Hi Maen.M,

I will ask you again to create a new question on the forum as you are responding to an already verified question with a bit different topic. Then also specify all possible details and object names.
