Questions like these can be very difficult to answer, if only because the use case for each business can vary wildly. You should be asking yourself the following questions.
    • Do you now, or will you in the future, possibly need to use D365 security such that users from the India unit cannot see/edit/create accounts in the Europe unit? If so, separate records is likely helpful
    • When doing business with these companies, do you have separate agreements based on their location? So does the India group have a different MSA or contract structure, or even revenue reporting than the Europe group? If so, separate records may be beneficial
    • In your company culture, do you treat these accounts differently based on the location, or is it simply a minor difference in reporting?
    • How many records do you have where this is the case? Would you ever need to go more than 2 levels down in a hierarchy? For example, Company ABC > Company ABC United States > Company ABC California?

Generally speaking, in a situation like this, you want to figure out how the reporting and sales processes are structured and build your customer base to that in CRM. Personally, I would lean towards separate account records with some overarching parent records that are used for rollup reporting and global sales information. But your first step should be gathering the requirements of the business around system interaction, security, reporting, and culture to determine what is best for you.
