Getting this error while upgrading from 11.00.2248 to
Please advice what needs to be done.. I am stuck here..
What version of SQL are you running?
Along with what Richard mentioned, when launching GP Utilities, if you immediately get a SQL version error, it means that, in this case, you have Dynamics GP 2010 on a version of SQL Server that is not supported.
For example, if you're launching GP 2010 on SQL 2019, you'd get a SQL version error immediately after signing in to Utilities.
With GP 2010, SQL 2014 and older were the 'supported' SQL versions.
Thanks
HI Richard,
SQL Server 2012 express and it is on ARABIC_BIN , as the previous databases migrated are on ARABIN_BIN.
ARABIC_BIN is this supported by GP 2013 or onwards?
I have no experience with that collation sequence. I only know that 50 and 52 are supported.
Database Requirements
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 - Enterprise, Standard or Express (Prerequisite is Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2) - Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - Standard or Express Editions - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 or later - Standard, Workgroup or Express Editions Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP3 or later - Standard, Workgroup or Express Editions -

Dictionary Order Case Insensitive - Sort Order 52 In the SQL Server Management Studio, right-click the SQL Server Name and click Properties: Server Collation = SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS 2. Binary - Sort Order 50 In the SQL Server Management Studio, right-click the SQL Server Name and click Properties: Server Collation = Latin1_General_BIN Microsoft SQL Server 2014 - Enterprise, Standard or Express (Prerequisite is Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2) Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - Standard or Express Editions - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 or later - Standard, Workgroup or Express Editions - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP3 or later - Standard, Workgroup or Express Editions Supported Microsoft SQL Server Collation 1. I have SQL Server 2012 express edition.. I tried with Latin1_General_BIN as well with SQL 2012 express.. but no luck.
Running this:
EXECUTE sp_helpsort;
Returns this?
Latin1-General, case-insensitive, accent-sensitive, kanatype-insensitive, width-insensitive for Unicode Data, SQL Server Sort Order 52 on Code Page 1252 for non-Unicode Data
and running this against each databases yields:
SELECT
name,
collation_name
FROM sys.databases
WHERE name = 'DYNAMICS';
DYNAMICS SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
Are you starting from scratch with no DYNAMICS or company databases?
<< Incompatible GP SQL Databases >>
DYNAMICS: 90
QFH: 90
finally found a solution.. changed the compatability level to 110 as i am running sql 12 express.. and databases came from older version.. not an issue with collation
ALTER DATABASE DYNAMICS
SET COMPATIBILITY_LEVEL = 110
Dictionary Order, Case-Insensitive / SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS and Binary / Latin1_General are the two supported SQL collations for Dynamics GP.
That being said, I know that customers in the Middle East and/or needing to use Arabic langage/characters use different collations to make those letters work in GP and for the most part, it works, just not technically supported.
Happy to hear you found a resolution.
