Upgrade Management Reporter custom Reports from AX2012 to D365 F&O

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 758

Hi Everyone,

Need urgent help.

I have been migrating our client's Ax2012 environment to D365.

My client has some custom reports developed in Management Reporter.

So how those reports could be migrated to D365 ?

And my another question is

What is Financial reports concept in D365?

I am totally new to the concept of Management reporter and have never designed any report into it. So, correct me if I have asked anything wrong.

Thank you in advance.

I have the same question (0)

Thank you Vinit. But would you please tell me, that do we have Import option for importing the exported report in D365 F&O?

    Hi,

I havet tried it so not sure, I would wait for other experts to comment but you can try to import it and see if you get any error? I assume this is some developer machine where you are working.

Yes, its DEV VM. Meantime I will try importing one report. Thank you for your prompt responses.

    Hi Rhushikesh,

You can export all reports (row/column definitions, etc.) in a file.

Once you have that export created from your old 'management reporter' open your new 'financial reporter' in d365fo and import that file.

As far as I remember these import menu items have not been renamed and can be found in the same place as in AX2012 in the company tab for the reporter.

Here is a picture how it looks like:

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Ludwig, thank you for the reply.

Do you believe that the exported  reports will work fine in D365 F&O without any changes?

As I am a technical person, I will ask one of our Functional colleague to do export and import for one test report.

Till the time, can I keep this thread open? Or there is no need to discuss more on this and you believe that it will work?

    Hi,

Try it with test report then close this tread, mostly it should work but if not you can update us with your findings and we can help you further if needed.

    Hello Rhushikesh,

If you have the same Chart of Account and Financial dimensions and do not make use of features that have been deprecated - Ex: linking different financial reports - then the reports that you created in AX2012 should work fine.

Otherwise, you might have to redesign them.

I would just give it a try in a demo/test environment to see if there is any issue.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thank you so much Ludwig for your detailed reply.

Soon I will be verifying your and Vinit's answer. Please allow me some time to verify it from my side.

    Thanks once again.

    Hi Rhushikesh ,

We have done export and import of financial reports when we migrated from Ax 2012 to D365 for one of our customer . As we done done full upgrade (code + data) nothing was changed in terms of data , so exporting report definitions from Ax 2012 and importing them in D365 worked and reports were running with out any issues. Off course later we did some adjustment but technically as long as you have financial configuration  data like COA , dimensions  etc. needed by reports set up correctly report might work.
