Change view default column Filter By option to contains instead of equals using Javascript

In a custom view, I'm attempting to modify the default "Filter By" option on a column to be "contains" instead of "equal".

It doesn't appear to be an option from the development UI.  Is this possible to switch this using custom javascript on the OnLoad?  Any help with an example or an alternative method would be greatly appreciated.
