Can't Switch BPF when Opportunity is Created

Posted on by 10

Hi all,

Hope you can help me understand if this is something I'm doing wrong or rather isn't possible within the system.  I have a BPF (let's call it BPF1) that goes from Lead to Opportunity with various stages.  We have a requirement that sometimes we may need to start this process from the lead, or sometimes it may be that it's best to start from opportunity (for example they are an existing customer).

If I start by creating the lead, BPF1 is available and enabled fine. If I start by creating an opportunity and try to switch the process to BPF1 it doesn't show up.

As a workaround, I have two BPFs, one that starts at lead (BPF1) and one that starts at opportunity (BPF2), but this isn't very elegant when it comes to looking at views/reports and trying to combine both of these.

Thanks in advance

J

Thank you for the suggestion Naveen but this is exactly what my issue is.  Yes, if I create a lead it does appear there but there are scenarios whereby our team will want to start at the opportunity and then join BFP1 - in these cases, you cannot join BFP1.  Perhaps this isn't possible?

    Hi jkz56 ,

That's because it starts from Lead. try creating a lead and it will appear there

Hi - yes both are added to the model-driven app. Below is a screenshot of the main flow. If I create an opportunity I cannot get it to join this flow. Security roles are all correct etc.

You have added the lead to opportunity BPF in the Model driven app correct? Because if it is not present then it will not shown.

Also check the BPF stages for the main flow. Because once you qualify the lead the BPF will create an opportunity and provide an default BPF.

Sorry - BFP2 is the workaround.  I need to be able to switch an opportunity created at the opportunity stage into BFP1 which is a Lead to Opportunity BFP. When creating an opportunity directly, BFP1 doesn't show in switch process when I want it to show in switch process.

If you don't need BPF2 then just disable it... So that only one process which is default one will visible.

When creating opportunity directly it allows BFP2 but there is no BFP1 available in the switch process.  Difference between BFP1 and BFP2 is that BFP1 starts at lead, and BFP2 starts at opportunity.  I need to be able to start at opportunity and switch to BFP1.

Try to create only opportunity directly and then check if you are able to perform BPF switch or not.

Hi Amit - this option is not working for me.  Yes, I can confirm both have been added to the app.  It seems to be an issue that because the BFP starts at the lead entity, it will only allow you to join it (or switch to it) if the process started with a lead.  It won't let you join (or switch to it) if you start at opportunity stage?

Does that option is working for you.? Also have you added both BPF to the Model driven app?
