How do I add Insights tab to custom form?

(0) ShareShare

Insights seem to be on a unique form for each entity instead of on our default forms  (not sure if that is by design or not).. Looking a the form it seems very "special"... Does anyone have advise on how to add the Insights tab to my custom Contact form (same for Account & Lead too)..

Also/related.. Where (or what entity) is interaction data for insights stored? We may have a need to interact (even edit) that data directly.

Thanks

Josh

    Hey,

we did this before. One Solution is that described by Clofly.

We use a tool from the XRM ToolBox "FormXML Manager" you can select the original Marketing Form, that comes from MS search for the part where the insights tab is located in the XML and Copy that party paste it in the right part of your Custom Form.

The first thing you need is the Tab itself:

And second, you need the Control Description (scroll down)

    Worked Fine for us

    Hi Josh,

    1. Insights tab is special component which couldn't be added manually.

But instead, you can copy the form with Insights enabled, customize it then set it as the default form.

e.g: Insights tab is already available to the OOB Contact form, therefore, open it in form editor and click "Save As" button.

In Dynamics, only those entities are supported with Insights tab:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/insights

    2. In Dynamics 365 Marketing, there are two types of data: Profile data and Interaction data.

Profile data is stored in the organizational database and includes the entities and records that we see, edit, and create when working directly. These include common entities like contacts, accounts, leads, events, customer journeys, and more.

Interaction data is stored in the marketing-insights service database and includes information about how our contacts interacted with our marketing initiatives, including email opens, email clicks, event registrations, page submissions, and more. We can see this type of information when we look at the insights built into Dynamics 365 Marketing, but we can't create these records nor view them directly.

    Regards,

    Clofly
