We have a business requirment in our Human Resources module App where Payroll is a core Entity. In payroll we want to be able to calculate the Federal Income Tax based on the Employee's Withholding Certificate. The "Federal Income Tax" field is a calculated field. There is a Many to One relationship to the the "Originating W-4 Witholding" Entitly where the federal income tax is based on the following fields:
a. Filing Status: (Single or Married filing separately, Married filing jointly, or Head of Household) - [choice field]
b. Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works: (yes/no)
c. Higher Paying Job Annual Wages & Salary (Single or Married filing separately/Head of Household): [$0- 9,999, $10,000 - $19,000...etc] - (choice field)
d. Higher Paying Job Annual Wages & Salary (Married filling jointly) : [$0- 9,999, $10,000 - $19,000...etc] - (choice field)
e. Lower Paying Job Annual Wages & Salary (Single or Married filing separately/Head of Household): [$0- 9,999, $10,000 - $19,000...etc] - (choice field)
f. Lower Paying Job Annual Wages & Salary (Married filling jointly): [$0- 9,999, $10,000 - $19,000...etc] - (choice field)
The two main conditions would be (1) Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works and (2) Filing Status and then the employee specifies their higher and lower paying job annual taxable wages & salary based on The Filing Status. There is a business rule which shows/hides the Higher or Lower Paying Job fields based on filing status. The attach sheet has all the federal income tax withholding rates based on the conditions and choices selected by the employee. We attempted to calculate this with calculated fields but that would mean a total of 432 If then, else if statements and I'm not sure if that's even supported. We figure a plugin may be the best option but we don't have the develpment skills or resources at our small nonprofit, anyone willing to help out?
Sample calculation below (i think):
If (Originating W-4 Record).Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works equals "yes"
and (Originating W-4 Record).Filing Status equals "Single or Married filing separately (506850000), Head of Household (506850000)"
and (Originating W-4 Record).crbdd_higherpayingjobannualtaxableseparatlyhead equals "$0-9,999 (506850000)"
and (Originating W-4 Record).crbdd_lowerpayingjobannualtaxablewagessh equals "0-9,999 (506850000)"
Then
Set "Salaried Federal Income Tax to 0"
Any help or alternative suggestions are much appreciated. Regards,
Sunny
