Edit Allocation Batch

Posted on by 1,608

My client is in the process of configuring some allocations.  They are on SL2018 CU3, and have configured a couple of allocation groups and are in the process of testing them.

That said is there any way to edit the resulting allocation batch once generated.  They would like to change the reference number and transaction description on the grid.  Though the batches generate in a balanced status the grid is greyed out an unavailable.  They've tried making the change in initialize mode and they've also tried setting the batch back to Hold status, but neither frees up the grid.

They did come up with a workaround which is to copy the JE to excel.  Make the changes and copy into a new Journal Entry.  Then they delete the JE created by the allocation.  It's clumsy, but seems to work.

That said, is there any way to allow them to edit the journal directly?  Please advise.  Look forward to a response.

    Dear JG,

I have confirmed that GL Allocation batches can't be edited in init mode. The thought was that if the batch is wrong, delete it and rerun the allocation , I guess its just easier to disable the entire grid then to disable only fields like acct/sub amounts and such.

    Dear JG,

They can use the Copy batch option in the journal transaction screen.  I'm asking a team member who might know if these types of batches can be initialized, are they trying as sysadmin?
