Error when downloading Management Certificate in LCS

Hi LCS Experts,

when trying to setup an Azure Connector in a LCS Project for AX 2012 R3, using MSDN Azure Subscription or Azure Trial Pass Subscription, I get an error, when downloading the management Certificate in LCS. It says Server Error 403 Access denied.

The process works fine, when I use my internal Microsoft Subscription, but other subscriptions fail.

Anyone else experienced this error?

Thank you and kind regards

Thorsten Scholl

    Hi Thorsten,

I have seen this issue before. I think it is related to permissions. Did you login with the organizational account belonging to the LCS owner or another account like a hotmail/live email address?

RE: Error when downloading Management Certificate in LCS

    Hi André,

we need to setup AX 2012 Environment for Dynamics Academic Alliance Training purpose. We have gone through the process multiple times before and it always went perfect.

Here are the steps the training participants usually perform:

    1. Create a Microsoft Account

    2. Redeem Azure Pass Code (100$ 30 Days)

    3. Log on to LCS using the Microsoft Account

    4. Create an AX 2012 Project

    5. Download the Management Certificate in LCS and upload it to the Azure Subscription (both applications using the same Microsoft Account as login credentials

    6. Connect to an Azure Region

    7. Deploy a Dynamics AX 2012R3 Environment

    8. Perform the Training.

I know that Deployment of Dynamics AX 7 (the new Dynamics AX) requires different steps to setup a project and deploy a virtual machine. For new Dynamics AX trainings the participants usually register for an O365 Tenant and then deploy a machine. This still works fine - even with the new ARM enabled environments, which again requires to perform additional steps to authorize LCS user as contributor in Azure.

However, when my training participants register for O365 Tenant, they can only chose to deploy a new Dynamics AX> environment. But for the training we try to perform, they need to install Dynamics AX 2012R3.

So in a nutshell - using a Microsoft Account provides the option for the right environment (2012) but fails to download the Management certificate.

Using O365 Tenant works, but misses the right environment.

Any idea, how to solve this problem?

    Kind regards

    Thorsten
