NAV 2013 R2- Cumulative update

Hello Team,

We have successfully upgraded our system from NAV 2013 to NAV 2013 R2 and able to use all new enhanced feature but in order to use backup and restore feature from RTC for complete data(.fbk) , it seems we need to apply cummalative update 8...but I am not sure as how to apply, when I downloaded it shows the complete setup files...so was little confused as do I need to install again or it can be done by replacing few directories within current installed NAV 2013 R2.

Can anyone please suggest the best way to get CU8 implemented and some steps will be of great help.

Thanks in advance

Rishi

You can simply replace those Platform fixes in server and all user machines.

    Hello Rishi,

You can find the folders for each part in the following table

    Type Name Tier Default Path
Application Update APPLICATION Object Designer - Requires merge
Platform Update ADCS Client  C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\71\Automated Data Capture System
Platform Update NST Service C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\71\Service
Platform Update OUTLOOK Client C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\71\OutlookAddin
Platform Update RTC Client C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\71\RoleTailored Client

Oh, excuse the formatting. That's not how it looked on the preview :-( You can still see it well if you copy-paste it to an excel doc for example :D

Please note that CU8 will add the possibility to backup and restore data (e.g. from a single company only), but not fbk-files! Instead, a new file format called navdata is introduced: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/nav/archive/2014/06/20/importing-and-exporting-data-in-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2013-r2-cu-8.aspx

Please also note that CU8 is out-dated. Please use CU9 instead: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/nav/archive/2014/07/07/cumulative-update-9-for-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2013-r2-has-been-released.aspx
