Will Dynamics 365 CRM onprem stop to exist?

Hi all

To set the context first then I have a client running Microsoft Dynamics 365  Version 1612 version 9.0 onprem and they are looking at moving to the cloud. In addition I personally would tell all companies to focus on the cloud versions and have D365 in the cloud, that is the future and that is also a much better option.

Here is my question

I have been searching for some more information on the Microsoft Dynamics 365  Version 1612 9.0 and 9.1 (Service Pack 1) trying to figure out if the onprem version(s) will continue to exist and if there will be any further updated onprem versions beyond the January 13th 2026 enddate.

Does anyone know if Microsoft will be continuing to develop new onprem versions or will they shoft the focus 100% to the cloud?

I have the same question (0)

There has been no announcements about the OnPrem being discontinued.   Online is mainly the focus and OnPremise will never be able to match online feature for feature as the Power Platform is the future.    That being said, new releases of on-premise have been talked about ever year but a new release was just done so we have no new information about future releasees as of yet.

I've seen no clear indication from Microsoft on this and I believe that's intentional. Gus Gonzalez dedicated an entire episode of his podcast to this (crmmvppodcast.com/episode-105-is-this-the-end-of-the-line-for-microsoft-dynamics-365-on-prem) before 9.1 on-prem was released. He focused in on that 2026 date as well noting that it was unlikely that it is a coincidence that the end of life for all the recent on-prem releases/patches have the same date. We are planning as if this is the date and working to ensure that all of our customers are online ahead of that date.

Bearing in mind the number of questions on this forum about migrating from v4 to online , it would be clear to think that the community doesn't really adhere to the end of life dates for the on premise applications. The products may be out of support and release cycles but some companies are of the opinion , if it works why break it

As others say no official word, but in 2019 when I attended Summit I'd say 90% if not more of the people I spoke with and most of the talks were geared around online, very little love for on prem users.  I could see MS deprecating on prem if their customer base shrinks to low single digits of the D365 users.
