Item versions best practice

Hi Everyone,

we are currently working with business central and integrating a PIM solution inside BC. In the way we manage items, we usually, whenever there is a change in the product, create a new SKU for the new version/update of the product.
With the PIM each SKU will be linked to different channels and we were hoping not have to update the links between SKU and channels everytime we create a new version.

- Is there a way to link product versions ? just as you could do with variants?
- in the case there is no possible link If we were not to create new SKU and just change attributes, would the item linked to past orders update to the current version, or whenever you place an order the items attached freezes with the attributes a the time of the order ?

Also in terms of inventory once the previous product stock is ended, the new version takes the lead in orders.

Thanks !
