Deploying AX2012 R2 Clients via Group policy

Has any one successfully managed to deploy clients through Group Policy.

I have followed the Microsoft AX 2012 Installation guide to the letter, added DirectExecute to the property table in the Transform with a value of 1 and yet when I try it I get an error stating "Installation may not be executed directly. Please run Setup.exe in root folder of installation disk. "

The guide tells you how to specify the AOS, ports etc. but doesn't explain how to point the clients at a central config file instead, does any one know if this is possible.

    If you have a mix of 32- and 64 bit hosts for the client, I would recommend storing the configuration in the registry. I know this doesn't answer your question, but just saying. :-)

    I had the same issue, I believe the TechNet artice ( "Deloy the client by using Group Policy [AX 2012]" —technet.microsoft.com/.../hh378078.aspx) is incorrect ,at time of writing this. The Property 'DirectExecute' should be all capitals: 'DIRECTEXECUTE' (and set to 1). When I tried the msiexec install with DIRECTEXECUTE=1 on the command line, the install proceeded. Having a transform with DIRECTEXECUTE set to 1 should also work.
