Dear Experts,

I belong to fashion retail and production industry. We produce garments and sale on retail shops. we have not configure tracking dimension with garments but we have batch dimension with fabric. If we require item aging, so easily we get for fabric but not for garments. its not easy for us to open new item codes for all garments with enable batch tracking dimension. now please suggest what are the possible ways to get garments aging from running system or any configuration which can enable us to get aging in future

I have the same question (0)

Hi, In AX2012 there is an inventory aging report. organicax.com/.../ Have you checked out this one? Best regards, Ludwig

Thanks Ludwig, we are using item aging report but our requirement is bit different. if we have two similar shirts in our store, with same variants, how to get the age of each item ? do we have to enable tracking dimension (batch number) ?

    regards,

    Hi,

How do you differentiate the variants of your shirts? Do you use batch numbers for that purpose?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Ludwig,

yes we use size n style as variant. we dont use batch at the moment. but just i am asking like if we need to distinguish each shirt, so definitely do we need to open batch number as tracking dimension ?

    Hi Kamran Jilani,

Have you tried the 'inventory by inventory dimension aging' report.

That's the only report I could think of that fits your requirement.

    Please check it out.

If it does not contain all the information you are looking for then you can either use Cubes/PowerBi instruments or consider a modification of the report.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

You need to hold the date against something- i.e. batch number.

That can be a batch for each receipt, or each packet or each shirt.

However you might just need one for each month or each season

You can then look at FEFO picking and sellable days.

The challenge is the add the batch to each batch of inventory otherwise how can you tell which is which? You also have to consider physical picking i.e do you take the nearest and tell the system which you took, or do you need to take the one the system advises which is on the top shelf at the back.

Be aware that without customisation AX POS does not take any notice of a batch number the system will just assume which one you sold- a good reason  to have the same  batch number for a period/several deliveries if that will work for you.

Consider whether your cycle counts will capture batch numbers of items at store.

    Dear Ludwig,

Actually i did not get solution yet. As you suggested above about 'inventory by inventory dimension aging' report. still this report could not distinguish 2 same items with same variants but different date of manufacturing. What i feel , this can be achieved through enabling tracking dimension ''Batch number''.

can you please suggest what to add in reports through report customization or some guidance about BI Cubes.

    Regards,

    Kamran

    Hello Kamran,

I would recommend having a look at the inventory value cube first because it is available out of the box and does not require any customization.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../inventory-value-cube-inventvaluecube-for-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012-r2-and-r3

From the previous link you can identify the associated dimensions (company, site, style, color, configuration, etc.). Please check and test them carefully before you consider making a SSRS report modification.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
