avoid duplicacy customer PO number in sales order

Hi,
I have a requirement of creating Sales Order which contains the Customer's Purchase Order Number.
Later,we use that Purchase Order Number to Avoid Duplicacy.
Any suggestion!

    Hi Microsoft Dynamics AX consultant,

    There is "Customer requisition" field on sales order header out of the box and you ca use it for your purpose.

    If you want to restrict input of same customer purchase order number twice across all sales order you can create new unique index by this field.

    ievgen is correct. You can also use the Customer reference field. If you create the index, make sure you also use the order or invoice account for the same index.

    Creating new indexes do have pros and cons. The index will also allow you to speed up searches on the reference field if you place it as first field.

    In addition, you could write some logic on the validateWrite method of the sales order header table to give a certain error or warning. For performance reasons you will need an index on the reference/requisition field anyway.
