AXUpdate.exe silent

Is there a way to update the client using AXUpdate.exe in silent with an .axupdate file with binary updates only? I cannot seem to find any documentation. I did find article about running AXUpdate.exe in silent. But it doesn't seem to be using the .axupdate file I've created. We have multiple clients I would like to update with a silent install.

You can do silent installation for any components, here is the documentation link:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../hh538439.aspx

Check this link for client-related silent install configuration. It also reaches out to a sub-site talking about mass-deployment options for clients.

I read those and believe they are outdated (from 2011). With Lifecycle services, you now download the updates and either install immediately or save a .axupdate file. There is no reference to a parameter for the file. Maybe I'm missing something simple. We are on 2012 R3 CU10. Currently, this is the only way I know how to install updates.

    Run AXUpdate.exe

    Login in to LCS

    Download Updates

Save .axupdate file (in this instance, I want Binary only)

    Run AXUpdate

Select the .axupdate file previously created

The AXUpdate update the applicable componenets.

If you are talking about binary updates (what we mean by that is a kernel hotfix as an official kernel update https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/axsupport/2012/03/29/overview-of-microsoft-dynamics-ax-build-numbers/ or application patch) for the client executable, then what you are missing is that you need a slipstream install.

Extract the original AX installation DVD, put in all the .EXE hotfixes you want in the KB folder, then user the guide above to deploy the Client component which will include your fixes due to slipstreaming.
