Retail POS: Troubleshooting "The application could not be initialized" launch error. Databases and config file have been created successfully.

Hi All-

I am fairly new to AX but am learning a lot thanks to this group.  I am trying to set up the POS component of the Retail Feature Pack for demo purposes with everything set up on a single box.  I have successfully created a Store DB and Offline DB using the utility and the POS config file has been set up properly pointing to both DBs. Upon attempting to launch the POS application, I receive "The application could not be initialized" error followed by another error stating  "A system error has occurred.  The application will close."

Is there a log somewhere or anything that I can check to get more information about what is causing these errors that are preventing the POS from launching?

Thanks in Advance!

    Hi Mikael,

I have a similar problem with you. But Im having difficulty to create the Store DB and Offline DB.

Did you run it on local users or domain user?

Have you push the N job from HQ to your POS?

And then can you send me your POS config file, since my installation does not create POS config file for me.

Please email to virawan11230@yahoo.com , I need it urgently.

    thanks.

Plz check incoming & outgoing messages in SQL. Is there any number of records got posted. If yes restart your services & try again. Make sure all the services are in your login & all the profiles like AOS, database, Store connect are tested successfully.

    Hi Mikael,

That kind of error is very general. To start investigation  run SQL profiler againts your database store. You will see the last SQL script that is execute by POS application. Check the table in your database store whether the data is populated or not.

    Hello,

If you created the POS DB, you first have to run the redeployment checklist from AX. You can find it under ***/System administration/Setup/Checklists/Retail POS redeployment checklist. When you get to the Schedule batch job, make sure you pick the correct AOS Profile. If you can't pick the AOS profile (only in CU4 and higher) you can change the name of your AOS Profile in AOS Profile Sample (it's a known bug, which is corrected with CU4).

After it ran the redeployment job, you should be able to start the POS Client.

If this doesn't work for you try running the N-Jobs mannually. It takes a bit longer, but it works sometimes better.

Be sure you have data in the AxRetailPOS DB on you POS DB. It it's empty, the client wont start.

Also you can check the POS.exe.config file if you set the terminaId, the dataAreaId, and shopId correctly.

    Hope this helps,

Exact same problem at my end

i can see the error in event viewer saying 'store1' not found

the table at store db, 'RetailStoreTable' is empty. I dont wanna fill it manually, i have run the A and N jobs so many times, my synch service is tested, real time service is fine (web service tested from IIS), store db are configured , AOS profiles, database profiles everything is there, even completed the checklist thing :(

can any1 exactly pin point whatever are the mandatory prereqs to run the jobs so that the store db starts getting populated from AX DB
