This information applies to integrators using the CDS API to manage Guides entities - no action is necessary for most people.
JSON ID field will be removed from the Dynamics 365 Guides solution
An update to the Dynamics 365 Guides Common Data Service solution Version 500.0.1.x will be released on Dec 8, 2020. This update will remove the JSON ID field for Guides entities, making it easier for integrators to use the Common Data Service API to build functionality on top of Guides data. JSON ID fields will no longer be required when using Guides entities.
The new Guides solution will become available on Dec 8, 2020 with the JSON ID field removed.
Action Needed If You Would Like to Upgrade:
To upgrade to the latest Guides solution, please follow the steps outlined: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/mixed-reality/guides/upgrade. Note that system administrator privilege is required to upgrade.
Once you have updated to the Dec 8 (Version 500.0.1.x) CDS solution, any existing new integrations or functionality you have built using the JSON ID fields from Guides entities will need to be updated. Failure to remove JSON ID Fields in the integration/functionalities you have built will result in broken functionality. If you choose not to update your Dynamics 365 Guides solution, there will be no impact and you will be able to continue using Dynamics 365 Guides with the existing feature set.
