Booking Rules

Posted on by

Hi All,

I have a requirement where I need to implement a booking rule to check a certain validation on schedule board when a requirement is placed on it. The rule does seem to work on hourly view where it triggers the alerts that I have in the booking rule script. But when it comes to other views, the rule is not executing.

Just wondering whether there is a limitation of booking rules not firing for other views except the hourly view or am i just doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Charith

Is there a way to trigger the Booking Rules from the Rebook and Substitute Resource options - it seems they are skipped if you move a booking with either of these options

    Hi Charith,

Please refer to this thread. community.dynamics.com/.../282840

You can trigger a booking rule from either then Schedule Board itself or within the Assistant Scheduler.

I don't think there is any other way of achieving your requirement from what I know of unless you solve it by training users to schedule work orders differently?

    Hi Thomas,

Could you please elaborate a bit on that?

    Thanks,

Not really. But you can trigger the booking rule through the assistant scheduler. Would this be a suitable work around?

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks. My Requirement is give a warning which can be discarded by the client. which the plugins will not do.

Do you know another way we can get this done?

    Thanks,

    Charith.

From my experience, booking rules don't fire on any other view apart from the 'Hours' view. I think what you might need to do is create a plugin on create of Bookable Resource Booking? Then throw an exception if the validation is wrong. If its a plugin then the validation will always fire because the check is being made server side.
