Leave and absence assignment - escalation

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I have encountered a following problem related to assigned workflow hierarchies. Assuming that Person A reports to Person B who reports to Person C:

The leave request assignment works fine as long as each of the parties are submitting the leave and absence request for their own user.

When Person B submits it on behalf of Person A, the system requires Person C to approve whilst I would like the leave request assigned to Person B. I have experimented with both, Workflow originator and Submitted by as 'Start from' values and I am not sure at this point which one is right.

Would anybody be able to provide support in identifying the cause of this escalation?

Many thanks,

    Hello,

No, Unfortunately, I have not. All the issues and questions you have asked earlier were great help but the escalation is unfortunately still taking place. I will surely update any information as long as we find what is not set up correctly.

Many thanks for all the suggestions!

    Hi Filip3y,

In my test, it works fine. Could you check if any step is wrong? Or share the screenshot for us.

You can check the following points and try again.

Have you used the latest updated and active workflow?

Did you request time off for team member at Employee self service?

Does Person A only report to person B in the relevant position hierarchy?

Thanks for your reply. The result however is still the same and when Person B submits leave for Person A, the request goes to Person C. Once again, this is the main concern regarding the hierarchy use in this case.

    Hi Filip3y,

You need to select ‘Workflow originator’.
