Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to reserve inventory during pre-sales stages. Sales Persons book the inventory during the pre-sales stages and it becomes mature when Opportunity become qualified.
Inventory is serialized, and we are using Project Quotations, our questions are:
* While registering serial numbers on Purchase Orders, they become physical available. How can we restrict them not to be dispatched until Purchase Orders are received.
* We particularly don't need the registration process, but whats the other way to specify incoming Serial Numbers.
* Can we reserve inventory on Quotations, so far we believe it need to be customized.
Response would be highly appreciated !

Hi Mustafa,
It is possible to enable/disable a parameter called 'Reserve ordered items' on the Inventory parameters. If it is enabled, you can reserve from not received purchase orders. To prevent this, disable this parameter.
In AX 2012 R3 it is possible to skip the serial number registration on purchases. You can then at moment of posting the sales packing slip specify the serial numbers without keeping track of it in your inventory, only for sales registration purposes. It is not possible to reserve items on a quotation. That would indeed require a customization.
