Hi there!!
I'm using Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013.
I'm currently in a Molasses trading company. As it has been the norm of the process, and since molasses is a liquid matter, we deliver our product with a different quantity source against delivered. it sometimes occur to have Gain or loss when received by customer.
Is there anyway that NAV can do this process or alike?
here's a sample scenario:
Source weight - The quantity to be deducted from our Inventory, 100 KG
Delivered weight - Actual quantity received by the Customer, 97 KG
Inventory Loss - Inventory lost during delivery, 3 KG
So i would want to post as shipped the above scenario, that would be enetered as
Qty to Ship > 100KG - this will be deducted from my Inventory
Qty Variance > -3KG - this will be Entered as "Inventory Loss" , and will be deducted from the " Quantity to Invoice"
This is a very crucial aspect of our business .... any help will be highly appreciated ... this will also be factored in our decision to "Go or no Go" with Dynamics NAV.
Thank you thank you...
more power to you all.

hi SIr NUNO!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE!!!!
so are you saying there is really a possible way, a customization that can adress this process?
our consultant keep on saying "no", "nothing", and gave us a work-around that is very tedious....
i'm just still hoping that there is really a possible way..
thank you thank you so much
Hi Lloydvan,
I believe there is no answer without any customization. By going forward with customization, there will be various options.
Please consider the following:
NOTE 1: by posting the shipment by the 100kg, you are accounting already the Interim COGS wich will be later, with the invoice, reversed.
NOTE 2: if a customization is to be done, don't Forget to consider sales cost adjustments after the sales post. Probably you will want to partially consider those as inventory loss also.
NOTE 3: if as per the development you'll made you partially reverse the shipment, you later on have to go to the sales order and cancel the remaining quantity.
Just some considerations ;)

Hi Sir;
Thank you so much for your response..
But doing this process as you suggested will post an invoice to customer with a total quantity of 100,will it not? The accounting entry we need is :
Sales Recognition of 97kg @ $7.00 invoiced to customer:
DR Accounts receivable ----------- 679.00
CR Sales ------------- 679.00
Recognition of COGS and Inventory Lost 100kg @ $5.00
DR Cost of Goods Sols ---------------- 485.00
DR Inventory Loss --------------- 15.00
CR Inventory ---------------------------- 500.00
Is There anyway , or customization maybe, that Posting the Inventory lost will made during posting to invoice to customer at the same time?
Again thank you so much for attending to this..
You can make it easy by default:
1) Post shipment with e.g. 100kg quantity
2) Post invoice to customer for only 97kg with normal unit price
3) Post invoice to customer for rest 3kg with unit price 0,00
You will post inventory shipment for all 100kg and make invoice with posted income for only 97kg. You will not have posted income for 3kg and this will be your expense.
