Management reporter: debit/credit columns show opening balances

(1) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 12
Hello,

in Mangement reporter we want to create a report, that should show also Opening balance of year, Debit or Credit movements in the year and then the end balance. A trial balance as a report, in other words.

But we have a problem with Debit/Credit columns in the report:
we chose YTD as column restrictions, but it shows then also opening balances in these columns, which is not correct.
Is there some possibility to display only Debit/Credit transactions in the year, without opening balances?

Thank you!

    Hi,
To address this issue, consider the following steps:
Use Periodic Columns for Opening Balances:
    • Instead of relying solely on YTD columns, consider using Periodic columns for the opening balance. You can have a separate column for the opening balance, followed by YTD columns for Debit and Credit movements, and finally, an end balance column.
    Modify Row Definitions:
    • Review and modify your row definitions to ensure that they are set up to display the correct balances. You may need to adjust the row conditions or filters to exclude opening balances where necessary.
    Check Account Structures:
    • Verify that your account structures in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations are correctly configured. Opening balances are often associated with the initial setup of accounts, and adjustments may be needed to ensure they align with your reporting requirements.
    Consider Using Reporting Trees:
    • Reporting Trees in Management Reporter allow you to define hierarchical relationships among financial dimensions. You can leverage reporting trees to consolidate or filter specific accounts, which may help in presenting the data more accurately.
    Best regards,
    Kevin

For debit and credit you need to select periodic. Also you can check/review from standard system trial balance report to understand the process.

PERIODIC doesn't suit for me, because it gets only month(period) debit and creadit. What I need is debit/credit of YTD, e.g. from 1.January till 30.Sept 2023.

    Thank you.
