In AX 2012 R2 with CU7

I tried to add new worker using Human resources →Common → workers → employees→ Hire new worker. I filled the mandatory fields in the form create new worker: First name, middle name , last name & personnel action type but the button continue still deactivated what should I do in addition to filling the mandatory field to enable this button ?

Hi Maram,

Check if you have enabled the License configuration Personnel actions under Human resource I.

I had problems before and noticed this one is disabled in the standard demo VM, so I disabled it in our system as well and we were able to create workers after disabling this feature.

Until today I did not find the time to investigate what this feature is really about.

After un-selecting License configuration Personnel actions under Human resource I, the personnel action type field disappears and the button now is hire new worker but still I cannot create new worker when I press this button an error message is displayed saying that ( Field 'Name' must be filled in) although the three mandatory fields (First name, middle name , last name ) are filled

Hi Maram,

Can you tell more on this environment? Is it free from customizations? Is it a clean install where all setup needs to be done? What setup was already done? The worker will be added as person as well. Did you configure the needed parameters for Global Address Book?

Hi Andre,

If I disable the personnel actions, it disables all the workflows I have enabled as well. However, with this enabled, I am unable to click "Continue" to create a new worker. Has anyone figured this out yet because its really weird that one would not be able to create a worker.

Ok, so setting up a number sequence for personnel actions helped to fix this problem!

There could be 2 reasons for this issue:

1. The number sequence counter is conflicting with the record being create: Check the "Next" number counter for the personnel number. It is available in HR->Setup->HR shared parameters

2. Other reason could be the employment end date. By default system puts 01-Jan-55 as the end date of the employment whenever we are creating an employee. We always assume that the date proposed by system is Jan 2055. However the date is actually Jan 1955. You need to put an appropriate future date. Once you do this, then the "Hire new worker" button will become active.

Andre, this worked for me! I was examining the Public Sector company within the Contoso Demo VM for AX 2012 R3 CU8.
