Output orders

Hi, where can I find the setting that turns off or deactivates Output orders?  We do not want to use for Production or shipping.  When a Production order is released an Output order is generated causing users to delete before Picking list can be posted.  Thanks.

    Hi Jon,

In most scenarios I see, output orders are created automatically by AX when the sales order picking list is posted. Can you explain how you do 'Production order release' which creates an output order?

Production order is created>status change to Release and Output/Inventory orders created.

    Hi Jon,

Sorry - I did not realise this was in relation to picking for production orders. I have never done that (not sure I even knew it was possible in WMSII).

However, if it's similar to the same functionality for sales orders, I don't understand why the output order is stopping you from posting the picking list. Normally, the processing of the shipment / picking route will handle the status of the output order.

If you really don't want to do this, you can turn off 'Consolidated picking' functionality. I hesitate to advise you do this, because it would likely have a big effect on your process.

The posting of the picking list in production should not need the output order to be deleted. However I have no tried it with consolidated picking on because to seemlessly process an output order with the source document, so you dont have to worry about them (you cannot stop the creation of them) then I set it as follows:

    Inventory Management

    1.      Inventory model group - On the Set Up Tab , you have the parameter “Consolidated Picking” , this must not be enabled.

    2.      Inventory Breakdown > Warehouses Management Tab > Ensure that the “Use Consolidated Picking” parameter is either set to According to Model group or No.

    Accounts Receivable > Parameters

    1.      On Update Tab under Picking List, you need to set the Picking Route status to “Activated”

If you set this, then when you do the Picking List posting , you will be able to do the Picking List registration. If you set this parameter to Completed, then you will not be able to go and do the picking as the items will be Picked already.

So the question is - do you use consolidated picking, and how are the settings above actually set.

Also what is the message when you come to post the production order - presumably something about an open output order?

Are you using WMSII or WHS or basic WMS?
