Dynamics GP compatibility with Office 365 email

I am having trouble to setup email in Dynamics GP with Microsoft Outlook for Microsoft 365 MSO (16.0.13029.20342) 64 bit on Windows server 2016, outlook is working fine with receiving & sending itself. In Company E-mail Setup screen, I checked Embed Documents in Message body & Send Documents as Attachments, formats allowed DOCX, HTML & PDF, after I clicked Purchasing Series in Enable E-mail section, I cannot logon Exchange with my email address & outlook password with GP system preference email was set to Exchange, I got 'Connection to the MAPI server not available. Unable to send email or select address' as I am not using MAPI here. What is the account needed here to logon to Exchange? Is there an article more detailed talking about how to setup email in GP with different office versions and compatibility? I noticed email from GP report as PDF having some issues with some are working and others are not working from Dynamics GP client. Can anybody explain that?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

If you’re using Exchange and getting prompted with the Exchange Log On window as below, when attempting to email in Dynamics GP, you’re actually not using the Email Accounts, mailboxes, etc, that are listed in Control Panel > Mail on that machine.

Instead, you’re actually using the email address and password being entered into the Exchange Log On window, to connect to either your on-premises Exchange Server, if the customer has one, or an online Exchange server, such as Exchange Online.

    Hi Robert,

You mentioned that you installed O365 64-bits version on the server.. are the GP users running the client from the Windows Server 2016 (i.e. as in Terminal Services) ? if so, you can't use the MAPI client setup as GP is not supported with the 64-bits version of Office.. instead, as Derek suggested, you'll have to go with the "Exchange" mode in GP, which implies that users will have to authenticate every time they logon to GP and want to use the e-mailing feature..

This is one of the drawbacks of using the "Exchange" mode, as GP doesn't retain the credentials of the users for the e-mail setup. Using the MAPI mode gets you rid of the authentication, since it's using the installed Outlook client, though you'll have to setup a user profile in Outlook at least once for each user if running GP in Terminal Server mode..

    HI Beat,

Thanks for your reply. The GP user is using Win10 64 bit with Microsoft Outlook 2016 (32 Bit) as I checked their mail profile in control panel, Outlook is using Office 365 client, it seems there is no problem to click Purchasing Series link in E-mail setup with GP preference was set to use Exchange. I am trying to configure E-mail on Windows Server 2016 64 bit with Microsoft Outlook 2016 64 bit where I got Exchange logon issue because I need to use the server to continue E-mail PM EFT Remittances setup if I can pass the Exchange logon issue.

    Thanks again,

    Rob

I removed Office 365 64 bit, put 32 bit version on Windows server 2016 & changed system preference to MAPI, I can click Purchasing Series without Exchange authentication check, I got email to work with EFT remittance.

    Thanks,

    Rob
