Automate posting imported journal entries

Posted on by 700

I have a need to automate the posting of journal entries imported from various systems integrated with AX2012. My thinking was to accomplish this by using batch jobs with a daily recurrence using filter/query for journal entries with a specific name. These journal entries are imported from other systems and do not need to be modified or approved before posting.

I created a batch process on GL>periodic>Journals>Post journals filtered on a specific journal type and name. The batch runs fine the first iteration. However, every subsequent recurrence set up runs successfully; however, nothing gets posted.

When I look at the batch job history > view tasks > parameters (which brings you to a Post Journals screen) nothing is populated. I click on select and can see my filter/query I had set up. I click ok and I then see the journals I was expecting to be posted.

It is almost as if I need an automated process to populate this Post journal screen before the batch to post journals is scheduled to run.

Any thoughts?

    Hi Jenny:

When you setup the batch, be sure to select late selection before you select the criteria.

    Good luck!

    Hi

I am struggling to get the late selection to work. The batch will process the journals once, but then not again. When I check the batch parameters, the late selection tickbox is unticked, even though I had ticked it before putting it in the batch.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Jenny

What version of AX2012 were you using?  I have it working on my R3 VM image, but have tried it on a couple of different R2 environments and it's not working on R2.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks for your post Dan.  We have the same issue on one of our clients and your resolution works great.

We did.  The issue we were having was solved by selecting the Late Selection option when setting up the batch.  Selecting this check box tells ax to select items to be posted before running the posting process (rather than defining the specific items to be posted in a one off batch.  We found that the late selection check box should be the first step in setting up the batch.

Hi, did you get a workaround this. I'm also in the same dilemma
