Management Reporter Best Practice

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

When developing an income statement in management reporter, what is the best practice for producing reports by service line, which is a subset of company?  Develop a tree which breaks out the reporting structure and adding it to the report definition, or writing a separate report definition for each service line and defining  the service line by account in the link to financial dimensions column in the row definition?

    Hi Walnut,

I am not aware of a best practice guide.

A lot of  "good practice" examples can be found on the MS Management Reporter blog.

Probably also check out this blog for additional information and examples.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thank You.  That makes good sense.  Is there a best practice for this type of thing?

    Hi Walnut,

I would not write separate report definitions for each service line because if something changes you have to maintain a lot of reports.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
