Can you please help me in understanding how load balancing aspect should be implemented in D365 FO Application to maintain high availability.

You don't need to worry about it, Production instance is managed by MS and they will decide how many AOS instances you will have and setup DR and HA

In cloud version you don't have to worry about it. Before production deployment , you have to fill in information about number of transactions etc. , Based on that Microsoft is going to take care of deployment of production servers for you along with load balancing.
HA and DR are provided for cloud subscription from MS
you could manage load on batch by using batch groups and AOS servers to correctly balance batch load
