Operating unit types

Hello Friends,

Got a question on operating unit types on Dynamics AX 365O update 4. Following highlighted are the out-of-box operating unit types which have recently introduced in 365O version 4.. Did anybody in this group have experienced deprecated unit types, I am more keen to know about Branch-Deprecated.

I am looking for a solution for one of my client.  When I use operating unit type Branch it does not link with financial dimension value - Branches. However, when I use operating unit type Branch Deprecated it links back with financial dimension values - Branches.

Will there be any adverse effect on the system by using operating unit Branch - Deprecated ?  Bear in mind this operating unit will be used in many areas such as producing management reporter, posting transactions, creating organisation hierarchy to link employee role/position and many areas.

    Hi Pratik Bhosle,

    I would suggest that you ask this question directly to the MS support. They should be able to answer this question with certainty.

    I have seen the deprecated thing but - as you - have not found an answer to those questions.

    If you receive a feedback, the AX community would be thankful if you could share it here.

    Just in case anyone else is searching for the terms Operating unit type and Branch, Rental location or Region....

    I got an answer from MS about this topic. Essentially, you should not use Branch, Rental location or Region. They are not part of the F&O application. They are part of the Fleet management sample code, which is not present in production environments. They are flagged as deprecated in the AOT as a kind of warning to anyone considering building developments around them.
