Hi

Is the date in the database always in the format "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss" and when it is displayed in Dax - inthe users preferred date format?

Because when I capture a logUpdate - the dates are always "yyyy-mm-dd"?

    Hi,

Date format of database is based on system date format, when you change your system date format AX will use the same format of your machine.

    Thanks for the reply

When you say machine - do you mean OS Server regional settings

I seen that if I change OS regional settings they are reflected in Dax UI - but the database format stays the same - it;'s the database format that I want to know about - why does it use the same setting how does it get it's setting?

    Hi

It's not to do with any table in particular - I am looking to find out why Sql server is using the date format "yyyy-mm-dd hhh:mm:ss" - is this set at install time for Dax (do you have an option to change) - or is it s Dax Sql DB standard?

DateTime in database is stored as two integer values, it doesn't know anything about string formats.

What you consider as "database format" is just a format in which some tool displays the binary data to you. Where do you see the "database format"?

    RE: Database Date Format

In SalesTable there is the field called [DELIVERYDATE] which has a datatype DateTime - I was wondering what determines the format in the database (as when i catch an event LogUpdate for example) - this database format is pass to my external WCF service

Again, there is no "format in the database", datetime is simply not a string at all!

If "LogUpdate event" means Application.logUpdate(), then it runs on AOS server, not database server, and AX takes default date format from the operation system running the AOS.
