Unicode symbols

Hi,

I'm trying to insert the "not equal to"  (≠ ) sign in Microsoft AX in a quick way and not but copying it from somewhere else as it happens now. We are working with version 2009. I have tried with Values like ALT +2260, ALT 8800 ... but I can't seem to get in to work in AX.
Does anyone know the correct (fastest) way to do this in AX please?
I have office 2016 on my pc and ALT 8800 works in Word, but not in Excel (or AX).
I presume it's going to be an easy fix, but i don't seem to find the solution on the net.
AX is running on Windows Server 2008 R2.

Can anyone help me with this please?

    Hi!

    8800 works

    For example

    static void JobTEST01(Args _args)
    {
        str test ;

        test = num2char(8800);
        info(test);
    }
    What you see for this test job?

    The alt-combination works on the ASCII codeset in Windows by default, so most likely you cannot pull Unicode symbols unless the application itself changes this behavior, probably Word is one of those exceptions.

    In AX it is not a good practice to use any special symbols, I would advise to stick to English alphanumeric characters. You will save yourself from a lot of trouble when researching data, doing exports/imports etc.

    Hi,

    I don’t know exactly how I should test that piece of code (I’m an AX-newbie).

    I mean really to enter the symbol in in a field while typing. When I use ALT 8800 the result I get is `

    Unlike in MSWord where the result is ≠ . As I see it, Word converts it itself, but I was wondering how I could make this happen.

    Hi Vilmos,

    Thanks for the response. I understand where you're coming from but unfortunately we have some users that disagree and insist on being able to use the sign. As for now, they also use it, but they always open word, look for the symbol ther, copy it...

    So they use it anywway and now there loosing a lot of time with it. Thats why I'm looking for a faster way to do this...

    I typically handle requests which are similar with "it is technically not feasible and you are going to cause financial damage to the company if we go down this route. shall we involve the financial controller in the discussion where you explain why do you want to do this anyway?" :)

    Alternatively you could do other ways, like external software. AutoHotKey and similar products could be a solution, where you could set up keyboard and/or mouse macros that could interact with applications i.e. paste your special symbol when you press certain key combination.
