Using Web Service Access Key in Ms Dynamics NAV

(0) ShareShare

I am trying to create a User in MS Dynamics NAV. While creating User I created a Web Service Access Key. It got generated successfully.

I followed the link: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj672864(v=nav.90).aspx

Now I want to use this key to access OData Web Services.

i.e http://<host>:7048/DynamicsNAV90/OData/

What headers should be used or What should be the URL in this case?

I am not sure if my understanding is correct.

Thanks,

Purva

    Did you publish your object which you want to access Odata in Web services page?

    that will create ODATA URL to access..

    Yes I have published Page. URL is as follows:

    http://<host>:7048/DynamicsNAV90/OData/Customer_Card

    How do I use access key now?

    you need to paste URL in browser and it will ask you for Username and Password.

    If I provide UserName and Password it works perfectly fine.

    But What is the point of Web service access key?

    Let say, I have configured NAV Server for Windows Credential Type and to use NTLM authentication.

    I am unable to understand how web service access key plays a role and where it should be used.

    Also, if I configure NAV Server for NAVUserPassowrd Credential type, then again how to access OData Web services?

    it will be used when you want to get data of NAV from 3rd party solution.

    then you need to use above ODATA URL with username and web service key to get access.

    I am trying to get NAV Data using node module.

    Following is a sample of configuration I do without using access key:

       url: 'https://<host>:<port>/DynamicsNAV90/OData/Customer_Card?$format=json'

        username: 'username',

        password: 'password',

        workstation: '',

        domain: 'domain'

    Now, if I have to use Web Service access key, What should be the key where the value of access key will be used.

    you have to use it in password. you can get it from User Card.

    is that what your question?

    From User Card, I got  the web service access key. But I am not able to get data when I give this key in place of password in my node client.

    I also tried this on browser where it prompted me for username and password. It did not work on browser as well

    Hi Purva

    in order to use Web service access key, you have to enable SSL for SOAP service in NAV administration console, then you can use web service access key as password

    var credentialcache = new System.Net.CredentialCache();
    credentialcache.Add(nav.BaseUri, "Basic", new NetworkCredential("UserID", "put Web Service access key here"));
    Nav.Credentials = credentialcache;
