How to Change Flexkey definition for TaskID

We are setting up Project Controller in a new instance of SL 2018. The Flexkey definition for TaskID was set to a single segment with length 2 characters. We need to expand the length to 8 characters but all of the fields are greyed out in the Flexkey definition screen. The Project Controller Setup has been saved but no projects have been created. How can we change the Flexkey definition for the TaskID?

I'm assuming that you're trying to set this up in Shared Information\Flexkey Definition. For TaskID, you should be using Project Controller\Flexible Key Maintenance.
